Essie Castaway

Hello everyone! Today I bring you an Essie swatch, Castaway. I *think* that this one is still available on their website. If it isn't it's no matter, it is not a unique color. It is a simple, classic, light Barbie pink. It is a very "sweet" color, it kind of looks like candy to me. This was definetly a sheer pink, this took 4 coats and you can still see a visible nail line if you look closely. It was also a little on the thicker side, but that could have been because it is probably an older bottle as I got it on super clearance. You can see a little lumpiness at the tip of my pointer finger. Overall I like it, it is a beautiful color!

By the way, I plan on doing a giveaway after I hit 300 followers! I think that you all will love the prize, but you won't find out until I hit the big 3-0-0!

Nail Art: Missing Lincoln Park

Hi everyone! I decided to try and go for a gradient manicure again, and this one turned out a lot better! I love this mani! Pinks and purples are probably some of my favorite colours so this mani is perfect for me! I used OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and Sinful Colors I Miss You. I couldn't stop staring at my nails all day, and I got loads of compliments on it. It is almost like pink snow falling to me, do you love it as much as I do?

Mannequin Hands: OPI Dulce De Leche

Hello everyone! As you may know I LOVE to follow nail trends. I am not afraid to wear a neon in the winter or anything, but trends are fun to try and participate in. So, I HAD to try out the mannequin hands trend (it was a good excuse to grab a good nude polish anyway). Now, my skin is weirdly colored. My skin flows from warm tones to cool tones, you can actually trace some of my veins changing from blue to green. Plus, the tips of my fingers are a lot darker than my fingers. My fingers are more along the Alpine Snow route lol, but the tips are much darker and pinker, so I decided to try and go with that tone. Kellie from Also Known As helped me pick out this color at Ulta.

It is a little dark and a little pink, but I don't care cause I still like it! It goes on opaque in three coats, although you could get away with two. It is a lovely color and I know that this polish will be really useful for when I have to go to conferences and make presentations and such. Have any of you tried the mannequin hands trend? Do you like it or do you think it's too boring and funny looking?

Haul Goodies! Woot Woot!

These are the goodies that I have been collecting over the month of January! From left to right they are: Art Deco Red, ELF Pearl, ELF Royal Purple, ELF Dark Navy, Sinful Colors I Miss You, OPI Absolutely Alice, OPI Glove You So Much!, Essie Cute as a Button, Essie Forget Me Nots, and Essie Castaway. I got the Essies for a steal, all three together were $4! And Glove You So Much! was on clearance as well, so this haul didn't cost me too much. Then after I took that picture and scheduled this post I went to Sallys and Walgreens...

I found 3 bottles of China Glaze Matte Magic on clearance for .99 cents each, and I got a China Glaze Flying Dragon, Sally Hansen Opulent Cloud and a Seche Vite Topcoat. Flying Dragon was free with the Seche Vite, awesome! I have been wanting to try Seche Vite for awhile, but I refuse to use it until I use up my other two topcoats! I will be strong! I have it hiding in a shoebox so that I am not tempted. I also got a Sally's Card, my Sally's finally got some more! They had been out of cards for awhile and got shipped some a few weeks ago. I am going to save SO much money!

NOTD: Dark Glittery Green!

Hi everyone! Today I bring you my new favorite flashy combination (I swear I have a new one every week)! I have been trying to figure out ways to use up my Hard Candy Sweet P because it is a layering polish and I felt like I didn't have any colors that go with it very well. That was not the case! This is Hard Candy Sweet P over OPI Black Onyx (how dumb am I for it to take me this long to see that green goes with black?), and it looks even better in real life than it does in the picture! IRL, it *almost* has a duochrome effect with the glitter, and it looks so flashy! I have fallen in complete love with this combination, do you love it too?

Coral Colors Tyrian Metalix

Hello everyone! Today I am swatching the final polish from my gift from Selina! It is Coral Colors Tyrian Metalix. In the bottle this color looks like a frosty/metallic blue, but it actually isn't. It's a violet purple with an overwhelming, brash royal blue duochrome! Of course I couldn't capture the purple in the polish, but rest assured it is there. This polish smelled strange, more like paint thinner than nail polish. Considering that I am completely desensitized to the smell of nail polish, smelling this one was strange indeed! It was a bit thick and took a long time to dry, but other than that I LOVE this polish! I think that this polish would be so cute on Kiwi, do you?

NOTD: Minty Silver Tips

Hi everyone! Lately I have been noticing the trend of makeing french tips a bit skinnier, so I thought that I would try it out too! I like how this mani is noticable, but it isn't uber flashy and still very wintery with out being Christmassy. I like it! I used Essie Mint Candy Apple and China Glaze Devotion for the tips.

I feel like the thin tips aren't thin enough, and make my nails seem shorter than they actually are. Next time I will do super skinny tips and see if it helps to make my nails look longer. Sorry about the mess and the really crappy looking cuticles; I haven't been taking care of my hands like I should be. The air has been super dry and I have been forgetting to apply hand cream and my Solar balm. I also apologize about the rambling, have a great day!

Awesome Fun Good Times With KellieGonzo!

Hello everyone! On Saturday I met up with KellieGonzo from Also Known As and Mickelle (who will be starting her own blog soon) and we went polish shopping! It was so much fun! No one I know outside of blogging are into nail polish, so it was really nice to hang out with someone who is as obsessed as I am! We went to a lot of stores; Ulta (where we met up), Nordstrom Rack, Claire's, Icing, Trade Secret, some other store that looked exactly like Trade Secret, Dillards, and Forever 21. First we'll do the goodies and then the fun pictures. Hold on, this is going to be a long post!

Firstly, Kellie got me a prezzy, which was SO sweet of her! I feel really bad because I didn't bring her a present, but she is totally getting a big one next time. Thanks again so much Kellie!!!

What's in the bag with the cute poodle on it?

Nu Skin Stuff! I cannot wait to try this stuff out! I got an Epoch Baobab Body Butter, Nu Skin Liquid Body Bar, Nu Skin Liquid Body Lufra, Nu Skin Tru Face Revealing Gel, a Travel Bottle for hand lotion, and a very cute zebra bag to put it all in! Thank you so much Kellie!

Next is my nail polish haul from Ulta, I picked up Parlez-Vous OPI?, Dulce de Leche, and I got Ginger Bells on clearance!

Now as some of you may know, I am an Escada Summer Fragrance junkie. I looked for the new one, Marine Groove, at Ulta but they didn't have it yet :( Luckily two doors down at Nordstrom Rack they had Ocean Lounge for cheap, I only buy Escada perfume there lol. It smells SO good!!! Not that I needed more Escada perfume....

*Shifty Eyes* Anyways, lastly I bought two cocktail rings, the top one is from Forever 21 and the bottom one is from Icing.

Kellie and I also had a swap (hooray for no shipping costs!) and here is what I recieved:

I got Tip Toe in Gold Rush, Zoya Luna, Zoya Lily, CHI Hot Ring Illusion Around Saturn, and Sally Hansen HD in Three D. Aren't they purty? Now for the fun pictures!

Mickelle looking at earrings at Icing!

Yes, that is a hand muff on a chain. Isn't it hot? (sorry about the scary bangs, my hair did not want to behave! I look really strange in this picture lol!)

As Mickelle said; I would totally switch teams for that.

Kellie and I at Icing!

Kellie and I outside before I head home!

Me, Kellie, and Mickelle at the end of the day!

It was such a blast! I hope that we can do it again soon! :) Be sure to check out Kellie's post!!!! Her haul was bomb!

Mattified Essie and Mecca!

Hey everyone! Today I bring you mattified polish! I matted these with Essie's Matte About You Topcoat. At the bottom is the picture of them glossy for comparison; enjoy!

Essie Mint Candy Apple - I think that I like this one shiny better, I don't know, candy should just be shiny! I would be wary of matte candy...

Essie Forever Young - I love this one matte! It looks so retro and fun matte! It seems very 50's/ burlesque/ pin-up awesome!

Mecca Cosmetica Celia - I love this one matte too, although its shiny counterpart tickles my fancy as well! I don't know if I will ever use it in nail art matte; but I do like it!

Stay tuned, later today I am posting my awesome fun time with kelliegonzo!!!! You need to see it!

Nail Art: Purple Ladybugs in Spacesuits!

Hello everyone! I did kind of a strange mani today. I wanted to do a really exaggerated french today, but the lavender and silver where kind of meh together, so I stuck some dark dots on it. It was kind of weird to come to this mani, but overall I think that it looks alright! Like silver and purple ladybugs? Maybe?

I used OPI Done Out in Deco, China Glaze Devotion, and OPI Lincoln Park After Dark for this mani. I love the exaggerated tips because they make my nails seem much longer than they really are! Do you like the exaggerated tips too? How do you make your nails look longer?

Chi Chi Mother-In-Law

Hey everyone! Today I bring you another polish from Australia/New Zealand that I recieved as a part of my present from Selina, and it is Chi Chi Mother-In-Law!

This is a sheer creme red polish. It applies very evenly, but as I said it is sheer. The picture was of 3 coats and you can still see my nail line, but I find this the case with a lot of creme reds. It dried within a reasonable amount of time and wore without chipping for a few days. I quite like it, it is a very classic cherry red color that every girl should have in her stash, no matter what brand it is. Kiwi, do you like it?

NOTD: Lubu Mani

Hi everybody! I decided that it was time for me to *attempt* to do a Lubu mani. A traditional Lubu mani has a creme black on the nail and a creme red under the nail, but that isn't visually interesting enough for me. So instead of the black, I used China Glaze Lubu Heels for some sparkle. I also used OPI Big Apple Red as the creme red. I thought that this would be super cute; but it wasn't. My nails are not long enough to do this mani well! It was really hard to get the brush under the nail, and it was really messy for me. It chipped almost instantly too! Sad. Oh well, I am sure that I will try it again if my nails ever get long enough! :)

Oh, and I want to apologize for not posting any pictures of the snow, by the time I got back to my room to get my camera it had all melted away and it was sunny again. :/ I will try to keep my camera on me this week!

Hard Candy Sweet P

Hi everyone! Today's post is Hard Candy Sweet P, which I picked up from Walmart awhile back for about $5. I wanted a nice sparkly lime green so I picked up this one.

It wasn't as pigmented as I wanted, the picture above is two coats. This is really more of a layering polish for over medium to light greens. I don't think that I would buy this ever again if I ever even finish it. It dries well but as it is a glitter; it is a pain to take off. Like a really big pain. Overall if you love greens and wear them a lot this would be a great addition to your collection; but otherwise I would pass on it.

Nail Art: Metallic French

Hey everyone! Today I decided that I really wanted to play with metallics, so I did a metallic french mani. It looks ok, I didn't like it enough to keep it on for more than half an hour last night (thus the crappy indoor pic). I exaggerated the tips a little bit; I think that it makes my nails look a lot longer!

I used China Glaze Twenty-Four K, Sinful Colors Bronze (LOVE this polish!) and Art Deco Silver. Have any of you ever done a finish-themed mani before?

And might I say Holy Cow Pies to the snow that is currently dumping buckets here! I heard on the news that it was freezing rain outside that could turn into snow. I looked outside of my window at 6:40 am to see rain, so I grabbed my rain jacket and put it on. I looked back up out of the window and it was snowing heavily, that is how fast the snow came. Although we are very used to snow here in Northern Utah, it has been a rather dry winter. Not anymore. Mother Nature is makeing up for it now. As much as I hate snow, it was so pretty! The snow is so fluffy that it all clumps togther as it comes down, creating huge snowflakes/clumps, it is really cool! I can't take pics because it is still very dark outside, but I am going to try to take some this afternoon and post them if you all would like that!

OPI Absolutely Alice

Holy crap if you do not have this polish and love glitters run (not walk) to your local OPI retailer and go get it right now! (After leaving a comment here of course ;) ) Do you see the glittery awesomeness? I am really thinking that I am not even going to go get China Glaze Dorothy Who?; why when this polish looks so freaking awesome?

It is a beautiful glitter polish with gold and blue glitters. The first coat sucks; three coats provide great coverage though. This is the kind of polish that you wear out to the club when you want to be bold and fun! It is a PITA to get off, but it is totally worth it! I might even get a backup of this polish (I have NEVER bought a backup of a polish before); that is how much I love it! I will be wearing this when I go see the movie in March for sure!

Haute Mess Tag!

Hi everyone! I was tagged by Stephanie at Lovely Disarray for the Haute Mess Tag, thank you so much Stephanie! The rules are simple, state 7 interesting things about yourself and tag 7 people to do it!

1) I officially can no longer smell nail polish or acetone. The first thing people say when they come to my dorm room is "Wow, did you spill a bottle of nail polish remover?" I don't smell anything lol!

2) I have a plastic cap on my front tooth after an incident involving my little brother shoving me into a tile wall years ago.

3) I have my naval pierced, and I really want to get an industrial bar too. And gauge my first lobe piercings. If I didn't plan to work a conservative white collar job when I get out of college, I would have spiderbites and a nose ring as well. I <3 body mod!

4) My second ear lobe piercing (one year old) is currently infected (don't read on if you are sqeamish, just go to number 5!) My ear started to hurt a couple of days ago, and that happens sometimes if I don't change out my earrings enough (I have an allergy to a metal in cheaper earrings that is not nickel). So I changed out the rings, and that ear started hurting again this morning. So I took out the second piercing to find it a little scabbed up, again not terribly unusual. Then it started gushing blood and was super hard and painful to put back in. I used hydrogen peroxide to help prevent infection, put my piercing quality jewelry in, and have been doing salt soaks to help it heal. :(

5) I have a wall art structure of a seritonin molecule in my room to motivate me to be happy. I am such a nerd lol.

6) I hate stress yet I thrive on it.

7) I tried to be born butt first, because I'm cool like that :P

Now, onto the lovely ladies I am tagging!
Kellie from Also Known As
Nicole from Magic Maid
PaintedLadyFingers
Trincess from Emerald Sparkled
RijaH from Polishign the Nails!

NOTD: Sparkling Metalix

Hello everyone! Today is a fun glitter combination! This is Coral Colors Tyrian Metalix and China Glaze Fairy Dust. This mani looks so neat, almost etheral? I feel very whimsical wearing it. I don't know what it is, the fine glitter, the bright blue, but this mani is very fanciful. Do you think so too? What is your favorite whimsical combination?

Hard Candy Hot Pants

Hi everyone! Today I am reviewing one of my favorite glitters, Hard Candy Hot Pants! It is a purple based jelly packed with big hexagonal glitters and smaller glitters. The glitter is very rainbowy and I love wearing this polish! I really only wear it over darker colors as the jelly base is very dark and can distort a lighter color. The only complaint that I have about this polish is that it is very difficult to remove, but other than that I will buy this over and over again!

NOTD: Emerald Pearl

Hi everyone! What is better than a duochrome? A duochrome with glittah! Love it! This is Australis Emerald Star (if you missed its review post go to my main page and scroll down a little!) and Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor glitter. Can you tell that I love this glitter? I am almost 1/5 through the bottle already! It goes with this teal/green perfectly. Do you have a go-to nail polish combination? I think that this one will be mine (for now)!

Australis Emerald Star

Hi everyone! I am bringing you another polish from Australia and New Zealand! Now Jacie reviewed this polish as well awhile back, and I have a slightly different opinion concerning the polish.

I will agree that the first coat is crappy. It is streaky and it balds, but I don't think that it looks like a dirty teal at all. I think it looks like a gorgeous light teal, and I would totally wear that color if it wasn't so streaky looking. I also agree that it is a totally different polish by the second coat! Much darker and much prettier. Now, I don't think that this polish is green. I think that this polish is teal with a brash green duochrome. I can look super green in some lights, but I think that the base color is strictly teal. It applies well after the first coat and dries really well. I love this color so much, it is one of my new favorites! And now for a Kiwi!

Happy 101 Meme Tag!

Hi everyone, sorry it took me so long to do this tag, I am usually way better about doing them quickly. I was tagged by Cucumpear, Babbling Brooke, and Ainos2 from Glammed-Up, thank you ladies!!! If you tagged me too and I missed it, let me know and I will add you to the list! The rules of this tag are to share 10 things that make you happy!

1) Nail polish makes me very happy! (duh)

2) My family makes me happy, I am very close with my family. It is hard to live as an out of state student because I get very homesick, especially right after I leave home.

3) I am always happy when I wear a dress. I wear dresses whenever I can, usually when it is warm enough outside to do so because I get cold so easily!

4) I love NPR! It is the only radio station that I listen to anymore.

5) I love the BBC! I wish that we got more than BBC America here because while I was in the UK I was super addicted to BBC 2 lol.

6) My boyfriend makes me so happy, he is far more than I deserve!!

7) Makeup makes me happy! Doing my makeup is one of my favorite hobbies, but I have class at 7:30am every weekday so I don't do much beyond foundation and mascara everyday because I am so tired when I wake up.

8) Audrey Hepburn makes me happy! I love her movies!

9) The color green, it is my favorite color!

10) You all make me happy! The reason I blog is to help people and make people happy, and I am so glad that I can do that through my blogs!

I am not going to tag anyone specifically because I am so behind on this tag, but if you haven't been tagged yet I tag you!

NOTD: Deep Blue Sea

Hi everyone! Today I bring you one of my favorite combinations, OPI Russian Navy and Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor glitter. I love wearing this combination, it looks like the depths of a dark sparkling ocean. I blurred the picture a bit for a better viewing of the glitter.... or maybe the picture came out blurry and I didn't notice and I am trying to make an excuse for myself.....but it does show off the glitter better. The best part about this combination is that the turquoise glitters in certain lights turn a beautiful shade of bright royal blue, which gives it a lot of depth in my opinion. Love it! Do you?
