It's So Easy Nail Art Brush

I picked this bad boy up at Sallys last time I went. On one end is a nail art brush and on the other is a dotting tool. The nail art brush is average, it does the job and is easy to clean. It is not the smoothest application; I have better luck with thin brushes that come with certain nail polishes. I LOVE the dotting tool, it allows me to make really good dots at any size that I want! This for me is best for really tiny dots. It is a decent quality and is pretty cheap, under $6 if I remember correctly.

8ty8beauty spree #27 - updates

Hi everyone!

Thanks for your patience.

8ty8beauty had just sent out our orders today
and it's on the way to Singapore!

yay~ Sometimes it's really a pain communicating with them. As usual, they have lots of orders that's why it takes so long for them to process our orders (even though it's already considered slighty faster than others? ya, i've read elsewhere that they don't even reply!) Of course, i've to keep bugging them to expedite. Yeah, that's why i will tell u that it takes approximately 2 weeks to arrive from the date spree closes. Checking through the quotation and order list plus amendments...etc are time consuming.

OK, enough of my rants. haha! There are a few out of stocks. I will email to those who are affected. If you didn't hear from me mean good news =)

I will update again once the item arrives.

Oh yes, if you've missed the spree, spree #28 is opening veryyyyy SOON!

Do join my mailing list if you wish to be notified on my sprees.

Thanks!

Nail Art: Strawberry Nails

I was inspired by Nails by Asami to try my hand at strawberry nails! I love how it turned out, but for some reason my dark green looks black. :( It's dark green, I swear! I think that it is because I put it over red. Oh well, it's still cute in my eyes!

I used OPI Big Apple Red and matted it as the base color. Then I used OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow as the leaves. OPI Alpine Snow and a dotting tool helped to make the little seeds. Does it look alright? Would you like to see more fruit inspired looks? Enjoy!

OPI Significant Other Color

Today is going to be a review of OPI Significant Other Color; which I found in the clearance bin. This is definetely a sheer polish. This picture was taken with 5-6 coats to get it opaque. It is a beautiful duochrome though. It does not photograph properly, it is a purple-pink that has a green flash, not a white one! :( The white shows up more outdoors, and the green shows up indoors. I wish that my camera wasn't so dumb, but I have yet to find a swatch that really captures the green well. I plan on using this more to spice up my pink and purple nail polishes. It applies very smoothly and dries really fast. I do love it and it can subtly spice up a boring mani!

As a treat, here is a swatch of it matted with the Essie topcoat. It really doesn't change the color and it doesn't affect the duochrome, it is just not shiny - perfect!

NOTD: Sparkling Audrey

'Sup? Today is a NOTD using my China Glaze For Audrey under Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor. I swear that Pearl Harbor was MADE to go over For Audrey. They look so beautiful together! I really need ot figure out a way to take an outdoor picture on a college campus and not get funny looks, because the indoor picture does not do the combination justice. They are in the same color family so it is subtle and elegant to me! I also mattified it to see what it looked like, I think that I like it matte better. What do you think?

Sinful Colors: Canary Yellow

So this is a swatch of Sinful Colors Canary Yellow, and it is one of the polishes that I am giving away in my contest! Lucy - this polish is only streaky on the first coat, after that it applies very nicely as you can see!

As with almost all yellows, this polish is really sheer. I actually put this over OPI Alpine Snow (any white base will do) in three thin coats. When you do this it comes out very true to color; it is primary yellow. I really like how flattering it would be on most skintones, as yellows are often not flattering on me. This makes me look tan!

And as a special treat, the picture below is it matted with the Essie Matte About You topcoat! I quite like it mattified! Enjoy!

Nail Art: Roughed Up!

This is actually a failed attempt at a tie-dye effect, but I still like how it turned out. It looks like my anils got in a scuffle with a bird while the polish was still wet lol. I basically took a nail art brush and brushed it back and forth between the colors. It didn't wear it long, but I do like it; I had to go to an interview and those are not interview appropriate nails. Enjoy! Oh, I used OPI Alpine Snow and OPI Big Apple Red.

Review - Essie Matte About You

Hi everyone!

After a long wait, i finally get to try - Essie Matte About You. Before reading on, you might wanna read about the product first from my previous post. Or you probably have read about this product on many websites which is highly raved.

I have decided to apply OPI DS Reserve (DS27) on my nails. Here's the picture

First i apply nailtek foundation II (ridge filling base coat). Followed by 2 coats of OPI DS Reserve. Lastly, one coat of Essie Matte About You. Viola~

You don't have to apply too much, just a thin layer to cover your nails with the matte finisher. It will mattify your nails in seconds. It's really that fast!

If you wish to order, pls feel free to join my spree and get Essie Matte About you at S$14 per bottle! You will not regret. hehe..

China Glaze For Audrey

I know, I know, you are all thinking "She only JUST got this polish?!?" Better late than never right? I have actually been looking for it for awhile. I looked at Ulta and all kinds of salons, but I finally found it at Sallys! I am such a huge Audrey fan (I have like, 3 posters of her in my room and I have seen gobs of her movies! We are distantly related as well lol!) that I knew that I needed this polish; the perfect Tiffany's blue. Isn't it gorgeous?

It took me awhile to get used to the brush as I am now used to the OPI brush, but I applied it okay right? I will be rocking this color often! (sorry about the slash marks, I didn't let the topcoat dry before I hit the hay!)

I will also be on the lookout for more China Glaze, any color suggestions for me? Emerald Sparkle and Ruby Pumps (they are being repromoted later this year) and the Romantiques collection are on my lemming list....anything to add?

NOTD: Matte Grey Glittahs!

Hey everybody! This is a NOTD from about a week ago, it is OPI You Don't Know Jacques! under Sinful Colors Hottie mattified with the Essie Matte About You Topcoat. It looks so pretty, I love how it sparkles but is still trendy in terms of color and finish. That glitter was heck to get off though! I got a lot of compliments on this looks, I must have recommended the Essie topcoat half a dozen times! Then I would be asked, "What is Ulta?" lol! Enjoy!

Mattified OPI! Post #3

Today's post is going to be #3 in my Mattified OPI series, and today are some of the brights and starting into the darks! From left to right is Fuchsia Fling!, Big Apple Red, Sea? I Told You!, and You Don't Know Jacques!.
Fuchsia Fling - I love this one matte and glossy. It is such a basic color, I love it both ways!
Big Apple Red - This one is ok matte, I don't love it though. I think I prefer it glossy, although it doesn't look bad matte.
Sea? I Told You! - It doesn't look that much different matte, but all of that glitter still pops through, which I like. It's.....different!
You Don't Know Jacques! - I love this one matte, and I saved myself monies from getting the specifically matte version of this color! This is great both ways!
The picture below contains the same polsihes glossy for comparison. Have a great day everyone!

8ty8beauty spree #26 - updates

Hi ladies,

after much anticipation, our orders still have not arrive my house yet BUT it has already arrived Singapore as updated on singpost ( 21sep - processing at sorting centre 4.18pm ). I thought that it will arrive today and asked my mum to stayed at home to wait for my package. And she told me my items have arrive. When i looked at my room, how come the box is so small...! then i realized that was my parcel that i've spree with someone else. LOL!

anyway the status on singpost is still the same. I've called singpost to check and she said will call me back to let me know and definitely will not be today. Well, i guessed it's due to the festive holidays that causes the delays (since singpost don't deliver on sunday and PH). So they probably have many backlogs. Oh well, pls be patient.. i GUESS it should arrive tomorrow. hee *fingers crossed*

I will definitely update when the item arrives my house =)

Thanks

Nail Art: Dicey Nails!

Hey everyone, I hope that you had a great weekend! I have this set of black fuzzy dice in my car, and I became inspired to do nails that look like dice! I also decided to play around with the idea of the "designer nail", where the nail of the ring finger looks different or is more embellished than the rest of the nails. Thus that one looks like a regular die. This would look so much better if I had six fingers on each hand! Oh well, I still like how it turned out. I used OPI Alpine Snow and OPI Black Onyx.

Second is Painted Tips' giveaway! She is giving away 2 China Glaze polishes of the winner's choice to two lucky people, and a set of fake nails painted with the coveted China Glaze "Dorothy Who?" to another lucky winner! Click here for the link!

So go check out these awesome giveaways and don't forget to enter mine! (Link in top right hand corner)

My Wallet Hates Me...

Well I WAS on a no-buy.....but then my nail broke so I needed some Q-tica, and that took me to Ulta, and it is so hard to resist in Ulta! At Ulta I got Qtica and OPI Significant Other Color. Then I HAD to go to Sally's because it is right next to my boyfriend's house, and I got the double-sided nail art brush and China Glaze For Audrey. Then I had to buy the prizes for the giveaway so I went to my grocery/drugstore. I picked up Sinful Colors UFO and my own bottle of Canary Yellow. Then I saw that they now carry the entire Art Deco line, so I got the Gold and Silver Glitters!
I will also have another haul sometime soon, it has to come in the mail first! It will probably be posted the day after I get it. Thank goodness I have a job now!

NOTD: Sparkling Ocean

Hello everyone! This is kind of a boring mani but I liked it so I wore it anyway! This is backlogged from a few weeks ago, thus the weird nail length. It is a very simple combination of OPI Sea, I Told You! under Sinful Colors Hottie. The combined glitter from the two polishes is very pretty, the picture really doesn't do it justice, it was such a glitter bomb! I loved it for summer!

50 Followers Giveaway!

Just in case you don't think that there have been enough giveaways lately, here is another one! I hit 50 followers the other day and I want to celebrate! So I am giving away three polishes to one lucky winner. These are Sinful Colors polishes, which is easily my favorite drugstore brand. These are from their new-ish Rockstar Collection, and if they aren't they were in that display. I picked this brand because it is pretty well known and I know that they aren't available everywhere; and frankly their website really sucks so it is hard to order it online. Here are the colors and some bottle love:

Out of this World: A pretty shimmery metallic silver. It looks so gorgeous in the bottle, I figure that if it is sheer it would be gorgeous and if it was opaque it would be gorgeous!

Canary Yellow: This is a nice cream primary yellow. I have a bottle of my own of this that I bought a couple of weeks ago, and I love this polish! I will post a full review about it later in the week. It is a sheer polish (like most yellows are), but two coats over a white base and it is true to the color in the bottle! Very flattering for a yellow.

Volcanic: A very unique frosty purple, it is plum with a violet undertone. Purple is one of my favorite colors so I had to include one. It doesn't look at all like SC Fiji (you can look up my review and swatch of that polish if you use the search function on the upper right).

Now for the rulez and regs:
1. You have to be a follower!
2. This is open internationally, but it will take a couple of weeks to ship if you live outside of the US.
3. For one entry; leave a comment with your name (first is fine) and e-mail address. If you don't feel comfortable putting it in the comments; e-mail it to me at gildedangel@gmail.com.
4. For another entry, put me in your blogroll or remind me if I am already there!
5. For two more entries, make a post in your blog mentioning/announcing this giveaway. I will not accept Tweets.
6. Please do this in only one comment if you can, keep in mind you have two weeks!
7. The winner will be picked at random; probably at random.org since I am lazy and uncreative.
8. This giveaway will run through October 2nd, at midnight (US mountain standard time), and I will announce the winner sometime that weekend.

Fixing a Broken Nail

So this was my nail as of about a week ago. I grabbed a chair to pull it ou from under a desk and this happened. Why Nail Envy, why?!? Why didn't you stop this?

Thankfully it didn't hurt even though it technically went into the quick (the pink part), but only the top layer of the quick peeled off at the edge of the nail. I tried to use super glue and it worked for a few days, but eventually it would break at different layers and it just wasn't staying on. So I cut it. :( Now it looks super stumpy in comparison to the rest of my nails.

I got a little forwarded Christmas money, so I went to go buy the little thing of Qtica because it does hurt when I use the end of my thumb for stuff and I need the nail to grow out over it. Thus in a couple of weeks; you will see a post showing the "Great Qtica Experiment". I am taking pictures of the nail every three days to see if it really helps or not.

Sorry about the rambling story, this is the first time that I have ever even grown my nails out long enough to get a nail break like this. Sigh, such is the life of someone who wants longer nails, right?

8ty8beauty spree #26 - updates

hi ladies,

8ty8beauty spree #26 updates:

it's on its way to Singapore! yayhooo~~

there are some out of stocks and i've already emailed to those who are affected.

For those who've missed the spree, dont worry as spree #27 is now open! Hurry~~

Thanks!

OPI Brights Power

Hey everyone!!! Today is a swatch and review of OPI Brights Power. It is from the brights collection from 2006 I think, please correct me if I am wrong! It is a beautiful neon orange creme that I got in a set with Green-wich Village and a cute little bag at Ulta.

It applies evenly and wears well; my only issue with the polish is quite sheer, I had to use 3-4 coats for this picture. I am thinking about using for Halloween and summers. It is surprisingly shiny for such a neon color as well!
So sometime last night I hit 50 followers! Yay! I thought that I would maybe get this many after a year or so, but I have only been blogging here since July 9th! It's only been a little over two months! You have no idea how much it means to me to have so many people find my blog to be helpful to them, or just enjoy it! I have to give a special thank you to Brooke (again) for giving me the exposure that got me so many followers! I WILL be doing a giveaway, but it won't be up for a couple more days (it will probably be up Saturday) because I still have to go buy the prize. It won't be the biggest giveaway out there but I think that you ladies will like it!

Giveaway Rundown!

Within the past couple of days a couple of blogs that I read religiously have announced giveaways, so here they are and what they are about!

Kelliegonzo of Also Known As... is having her first giveaway, and its a big one full of China Glaze, Nu Color, Nail Tek and more! Here is the link, check it out!

Lacquer Laine is also doing a giveaway of greens, golds and glitters! She even has swatch pictures up to drool over! Here is the link, check it out too! Remember to wish her a happy birthday on 9/22!

As a heads up; I will be doing a giveaway of my own at 50 followers, so I am three followers away! I still need to go buy the prize though, so if I reach it really soon then it will still be a day or two before it would go up. I apologize that it won't be huge, I am a poor college student who doesn't start her new job until next week. So go check out those two giveaways and I will be up with another post in the morning!

Mattified Sinful Colors! Post #1

I still love the Essie Matte About You topcoat! Here are three of my Sinful polishes mattified! They are Genteel, Ladies in Waiting, and Jamboree.
Genteel - It is ok matte; I am not sure that I like it as much as the glossy.
Ladies in Waiting - It is still super frosty when I matte it, in fact it did not look particularly matte after two coats of topcoat.
Jamboree - This is awesome matte! It really brings out the violet undertone in the polish!

I've been pushing them to expedite on our orders. Just gave them a call and Tom mentioned that he will send our orders either today or tomorrow. Anyway, there are a few out of stock. I will have to wait till he send me the final invoice before i can get back to those who are affected.

For those who've missed the spree. The spree #27 will be opening tomorrow. =)

Get ready to choose your favorite colors!

Thanks!

Nail Art: Watermelon Nails

Hello everyone! Sorry about posting two nail arts in a row but I really had to share this one! Isn't it cute?!? I got so many compliments when I wore it! I used OPI Fuchsia Fling and mattified it with the Essie Matte Topcoat. Then the rind is OPI Green-wich Villiage with stripes of OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow, and the seeds are OPI Black Onyx. I hope that you like them! :)

Nail Art: Dots and Stripes

This was way cuter in my head, this is a failed nail art. I didn't even wear it for five minutes after this picture was taken. I think I was expecting something thinner and more feminine to come out. I wanted the lines to taper better, maybe look more like comet? I did learn that I need more nail art brushes, especially since mine has magically gone missing... The base color is OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow and the dots and stripes are OPI Alpine Snow.

Cutex Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover

This will be a review for a remover that I used to use religiously (as you can see by the amount in the bottle). I started using this a long time ago when I would wear nail polish once in awhile. This stuff doesn't stink as badly as Acetone-based nail polish remover; but it takes forever to get the polish off. It wasn't a big deal when I didn't wear a base coat or a top coat; but when I started to it took three times as long to get the polish off, and I used a lot more cotton balls. So I switched to a new nail polish remover within the last month or so. You will be seeing the review on that one sometime next week.... :)

NOTD: Pearl Harbor meets Green-wich Villiage

Hello everyone, here is a NOTD I did about a week ago. It is OPI Green-wich Villiage with
Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor; which is a gorgeous green/teal glitter. I wish that there was more glitter in it though. It still turned out very pretty in my opinion though. The picture below is the look mattified! I like it matte better I think, but both are super pretty!

Diary Day 1 - Baby Foot Easy Pack (Foot peeling treatment)

Hi ladies,

I've been eyeing this product for quite sometime especially when it first hit Singapore (Guardian pharmacy) - Baby Foot kit. Well, during that time the packaging is in a form of cube box and priced around $59.90. Saw the brochure and this product is suppose to make your foot peel and renew your skin as smooth like a baby foot. sounds amazing? Find out more info from http://www.babyfoot.co.jp/e/index.html

I didn't buy coz of the price. When i went to Japan, i couldnt find it (it's from japan!!) argh... When i went to Taiwan few months back, i saw a similar product call - BeautyFoot. forgotten how much.. still brand new in my room at a corner and yet to try. haha! I found Baby Foot Easy pack from Hong Kong recently and the price seems very reasonable. around SGD$28... brought 1 box and FINALLY decided to try today.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I thought of blogging this highly raved product and see if it is really that good as it claims to be. Anyway, just by looking at the pictures and description, i'm already 90% convinced that it will work. We shall see.

Day 1:

Here's my foot before the treatment. haha.. as i wear heels quite often, so the middle part got the callus and the end of my feet is very dry and got dead skin.

Photobucket

Here's the socks with the solution inside. just have to wear them and leave it on for 2 hours.

Well, the booklet says my foot my start to peel in 5-7 days time and peel completely in 2-3 weeks. I will update again. please feel free to comment if you've tried. Stay tuned!

Day 5 *Updated 14 Sep 09*

Ok, just to rewind abit... the 2nd and 3day didn't really notice any difference. Yesterday (Day4) i did not check any peelings. Just now, all of a sudden i remember and take a look at my foot. WAH! it's peeling!! woohoo.. it looks a little scary though.. and now my foot is rough. i'm sure there's more to come since it's suppose to peel off everything?

Here's the pictures i just took. **WARNING - Horror Foot ahead! **

More to come! stay tuned =)
