No Nails Today, Just an Update

Hey everyone! I'm sorry that I have no nails for you today, I completely ruined them at work yesterday. I was re-organizing a lot of files in hanging folders and it took a huge toll on my nails. 5 of them either really chipped or broke off almost completely. :( So sometime today I will take the painful action of shortening them all, which make me really sad. I also cut my cuticles a lot moving these files (keep in mind I moved thousands of files yesterday, it took me 5 hours to reorganize them all) and got some cuts on my arms. Who knew that moving files could be so hazardous? So yeah, my hands are in really rough shape. I have some backlogged pictures of swatches that I will be sharing, which should give me enough time to get my hands into okay shape again. Sorry about that everyone!

In other news I have tons of homework to get done this weekend and I have to study for a final that I have in the middle of next week. Fun times. I am locking myself in my apartment all weekend lol! After my music class is over hopefully I will have a lot more time on my hands to actually do my nails more than a couple of times a week. Anything big going on in your lives? :)

Hair Dyed Nail Polish?

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a quick fun post about something I discovered the other day. I only had some week-old nail stregthener on my nails when I decided to dye my hair its trademark red color. When I finished washing the dye out of my hair, I noticed that my nails looked stained! I had forgotten that I had put nail stregthener on my nails and I thought that I had stained the crap out of them. Turns out that my natural nails were fine, but the dye had stained the strengthener. I took this picture in kind of crappy lighting and after a day it had faded significantly, but you can still see it a bit, especially if you look at the cuticle gap. I don't know, I just thought it was something funny to share! :)

Did You Miss Me? Maybe?

Hi everyone! I am so sorry that I was gone for so long (almost a month!) but my life is finally settling down a bit and I can get back to my favorite hobby. So this post is going to be an update on my life and my nails, but the real nail posts will begin tomorrow.

So after I got through the craziness of my finals, I had to pack all of my things and wait patiently for housing to tell me to move. That week I started my new summer job as a secretary, and then that Wednesday I was told to move at 5pm. In the rain. Fantastic. So I get my key from the guy and I asked him to double check to see if it was the right room because it looked wrong. He gave me a snotty tone and said it was right. I spent all night hand-moving all of my things to the new room bcause I have no car, it took about 6 hours. After everything was moved, I found out that I had been placed in a male suite. Fantastic. So I spent the next day moving again to the room that I was supposed to be in. It was a complete nightmare. Then I started my summer classes and that has been keeping me busy too.

Moving my nail polish was quite the trek, below are the pictures of them after the move and then there are corresponding pictures of them re-organized. Nothing got broken thank goodness (I would have cried) but it looked like a hot mess. The nail polish melmer is now stored under my bed because it being on top of my flimsy bookcase was not a good place to put it. I like it there, and I have more room to spread out when I polish my nails and toes.

All of that moving also took a huge toll on my nails, they pretty much all chipped or snapped off, which is a big reason why I haven't been posting. They still aren't great, but at least they are even and a reasonable length now. I feel like I can take pictures of them at least lol. They are still rounded, but I hope to square them back off soon. I have literally been so busy that my no-buy lasted much longer than I thought, in fact I just bought nail polish for the first time since the end of February. How did I survive for so long? Needless to say I picked up a few of the pretty China Glaze Poolside polishes, I got Pool Party, Kiwi Cool-ada, and Flip Flop Fantasy. I am trying really hard not to go overboard, so three for now will be just fine. ;)

So all in all, I am ridiculously excited to be back in the community again, I missed you all so much!!! I feel so out of the loop and I am sorry that I have missed so much of what has been going on. The plans for the near future are to have a giveaway soon, to post some backlogged swatches, and to swatch some of the polishes of my roommates in my apartments, they all love nail polish too. They think I have too many polishes..... because I do, but they have a lot of colors that I don't have that I would love to swatch for all of you! Yay! Thank you guys for sticking with me while I have been away, I hope that you continue to enjoy my ramblings and the blog! :)

Taking a Short Break, I'll Be Back Soon!

Hi everyone! Due to the 5 difficult final exams that I have to take this week in addition to starting a new job and the fact that I can be forced to move my belongings to a new dorm room at any time, I have decided that I will not be posting on this blog until either Friday or Saturday. I am just too busy to do my nails, and frankly they are a hot mess right now anyways. I do not have time to take pictures and edit and write. Sorry guys, I feel bad because I am typically so good about posting consistently every single day. I hope that you understand that I am busy and that I will be back very soon. On a good note, I am almost better from that nasty cold I had last week. I don't feel sick anymore but I am still coughing. Once I am back and settled and in a groove with my new dorm room and classes and such; I plan on having a giveaway! Yay! So be on the lookout for that probably later this month.

If you really miss me, I do have a post scheduled for 1pm MDT on my piercing blog and you can check out that blog if you are interested. I may need to put off Thursday's post on that blog until Friday. I am also planning on checking my twitter page (@gildedangel) occasionally if you need to ask me a question or contact me. I have been having some minor troubles with my e-mail account so contacting me on Twitter will be best.

How About A Kitty?

Hey everyone! I am again sorry that I have no manicure today, I am still really sick and the smell of nail polish remover has been making me very dizzy. So I hope that you forgive me, and enjoy a picture of my kitty instead. Doesn't she look cute and kind of scared lol? Lately she has been kind of sick, and I can't go and see he.r I am hoping that she will get better soon. My mom is going to take her to the vet very soon. She hasn't been cleaning herself properly and she has been using the area just outside of her litter box instead of the litter box; which is very strange for her. Anyway, there will be a nail swatch tomorrow and hopefully I will feel ok enough to have a manicure for you all on Thursday, have a great day everyone!

Another Random Update!

Sorry about no manicure again guys, I have not been feeling well. My cold has gotten a lot worse, I feel like my lungs are going to collapse and my throat could sand wood. I can barely even talk lol. I sound like a frog.....ribbit ribbit.

Anyways, I really want to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday yesterday, I really appreciate the good thoughts and well wishes! Also, thank you to those who wished that I felt better, hopefully this cold will go away very soon so I can focus on my studies, finals are coming up fast! And once they are done I can finally catch up on my blogging, I feel so out of the nail blogging loop! So much so that I have not bought nail polish in almost two months! Hooray for successful no-buys! Don't worry, I still have a couple of week's worth of nail polish swatches for you all lol!

My birthday went really well for those of you who wanted to know. My boyfriend took me to the local aviary and we got to see all of the cool birds. I even found a duck who thought himself a flamingo! I saw him stand on one leg and try to go to sleep; someone's been spending too much time in the flamingo pond lol. I wish that I had thought to take a picture of him, it was precious!

Sorry Everyone, No Nails Today!

Hey everyone! I would normally have a manicure of some sort for you today, but alas that is not going to happen. The end of the semester is really kicking my butt. I have been running 90 miles an hour all week long and I just didn't have time to do cool nail art. I have been wearing China Glaze OMG all week and it has held up pretty well though!

My nails are also in really rough shape, which is part of why I don't want to take pictures of my nails. I have been biting my cuticles again with the stress of school and I have an infected cuticle because of it. I have also been having nail strength troubles, so much so that I changed the shape of my nails. As much as I love having sharp square nails, the corners keep breaking off at a ridiculous rate, so I rounded my nails and I am kind of afraid to show you guys lol.

I also had the worst day in a long time for me yesterday, plus I am totally sick to boot. Sore throat, sneezing and coughing; not fun. So yeah, sorry about no nails today. I do have a fun post tomorrow and I will try to come up with a manicure to show off to you all for Sunday. Have a great weekend y'all!

Goodies and Kitty!

Hi everyone! I first want to start out by apologizing. I have been super busy and I have not been able to comment on blog posts for the past couple of weeks. Sadly this will probably continue for at least a few more weeks. Between this week-long conference and the abundance of homework and studying that I need to do for the end of the semester (which is coming up way too fast!) finding the time to read everyone's blog posts is just not going to happen. I feel really bad because I have always tried to read everyone's posts, but I just don't have the time right now. Once this semester is over I will be able to get back on track, I promise!

In other news, I recieved a package two weeks ago that contained my prize from The Wizards of Bling giveaway! I picked the two Sally Hansen polishes, Star Opal in Rose Gold Opal and Fire Opal in Earthen Opal, theyy are so pretty! And it came in the cutest bag and heart-shaped tin, thank you ladies! I can't wait to try them out.

Next I am going to share a picture of my kitty! This is my kitty at home, and her name is Chloe. We got her from under my aunt's porch about 9-10 years ago when she was a kitten. We lured her out with ham lol. I don't know why she looks so wide-eyed in this picture because she usually isn't. Oh and that fur thing behind her? That is her rabbit fur, she LOVES playing with it. She throws it around and stalks it and hunts it lol. She was never much of a jingle-toy or ball cat, she much prefers toy mice, catnip, and fur. She also weighs a lot for a cat, I think she weighs in at about 19 pounds. Yeah, that is not all fur! She is such a sweet kitty though!

Mannequin Toes?

Hi everyone! If you hate feet, run and hide! I have NEVER shown my feet on this blog before! I only change my toe polish once every 2-3 weeks, and usually it is a very bright color. But I had to change it to something neutral because I am presenting at a conference on Friday in peep-toe pumps. Now OPI Dulce de Leche was a close mannequin hands color, but it was a little pink and dark, which I expected on my toes. Turns out that it is my perfect manniquin toes color! Isn't it kinda creepy looking lol? Sorry about showing my foot, but this was too funny to not post about!

Movies, Kitty and Mini Haul Randomness!

Hi everyone! This is one of my few and far between random posts, and it is long and pic heavy, so beware!

First I will talk about the movie that just came out this weekend, Alice in Wonderland, because several of you want to know what I thought of it. This is the first movie that I have ever seen in an IMax or in 3D much less on opening weekend! My boyfriend took me to go see it, and he got us really great seats. Overall I really liked the movie! I loved the first 3/4 of it, but I found the last 1/4 to be kind of generic and predictable. Not the best movie ever, but I still really enjoyed it. If I could walk around like Anne Hathaway's character all the time I totally would! And Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat was a big win in my book!

Now lately it seems like all of the nail bloggers have been posting pictures of their kitties. Now since I live away from home, I can't take a picture of my kitty for a few more weeks until I go home for Spring Break. So instead I bring you pictures of my boyfriend's kitty Autumn! Isn't she cute?!?

And finally, my boyfriend and I stopped by Rite-Aid, and look what I found! More Nailene pens! Now I have one of every color. I plan on doing another review covering all of them, like a take 2 of the review. Yep, I like these so much that I went and bought some myself! I got Pearl Pink and Black on super clearance, I think I picked them up for a little over a dollar each on super clearance, but to be honest I would have gotten them whether they were on sale or not. I picked up extras of these too to add to the next giveaway pile ;) Hope you enjoyed the random post, I know that a lot of you like these!

In Need of A Little Comfort Right Now......

If you don't like to read random posts that aren't about nail polish then go ahead and skip over this post as it has nothing to do with nail polish. I just need to rant a little bit.

My day started out fantastic, my classes went well, I got a lot of my homework done and I even won a Twitter giveaway. I went to my research project meeting and made a great presentation that went over really well with everyone. After the meeting my boss caught me and asked if I could come talk to him. I thought that he wanted to talk to me about the recommedation that he is writing for me, but it wasn't. I got fired from my job.

Now to give you some background, my boss does not see what goes on in the lab, only my supervisor does. My supervisor and my boss met today and apparently my supervisor thinks that we don't work well together. I am literally completely thrown for a loop. I did everything that she had ever asked me to do with a smile on my face and I did it well. She would even say that I did a great job. Now mind you she never asked me to do a whole lot. I mostly sat around the lab and watched the machine. She seemed to have some control issues, but it never bothered me as I would probably be the same way. Imagine my surprise! My boss explained to me that he wasn't sure what was going on between my supervisor and I because he doesn't see us interact, but he felt that it was probably best if I didn't work for her anymore.

My boss is one of the nicest professors I know, so he let me down gently and he is going to talk to other professors to see if he can find other work for me, but that isn't a guarentee. I just don't know what I did wrong. If I knew what I did wrong, I could have fixed it. I know that I shouldn't take it personally because my supervisor has fired every other assistant that she has had before me, but I am still really upset. I wasn't terribly fond of her but I really liked my job and thought that I was doing a good job. I didn't want to be fired from my first job! I am at a loss here. Have you ever been fired? How did you deal with it? Again I apologize for the rant, I will probably delete this within a few hours lol.

It's Official, Blogger Hates Me :( Fellow NP Bloggers, Help Me Out? Please?

Yep, Blogger hates my guts. I don't know what I ever did to it, but it likes to take its revenge. To my fellow nail polish bloggers, please do me a big favor (if you haven't already) and check your blogrolls for my blog if you have added me. I seem to be missing from a lot of them all of a sudden, but not from all of them. I think that I am missing mostly from ones that update everytime a blog posts. Like it's gone. I am not even on Brooke's blogroll (Getcha Nails Did). Her blogroll puts my long one to absolute shame, yet I seem to be missing, and I KNOW I was on there before. I don't know what happened, but this isn't the first time that blogger has effed me over like this.

You may or may not have been with this blog when I decided to change my URL a couple of months back. It was really long and I wanted it to be much shorter for when I needed to type it, because I am lazy like that. Now when a blog's URL changes on Blogger, it is supposed to update everyone's links for those who follow you and most blogrolls. Blogger did not tell a freaking soul. My blog literally (to everyone following it) disappeared off of the face of the internet. I had to scramble to try to let everyone know about the new url. It was such a PITA.

Some kind of error happened and this blog is actually linked to 2 URLs now. So if one followed the original URL, they had to either change the URL it was linking to, or unfollow me and refollow me. But if one follows the original URL, they still appear under my followers. But they don't get any of my posts. It is SO random and blogger didn't want to fix it. Sorry about the rant, but when these things happen it is super frustrating!

It's That Time of Year.....

Hey everyone! Have I mentioned that I am a total Christmas junkie? Like hardcore junkie. I usually set up all of the decorations around my parents house, including a 12 foot Christmas tree (build and decorate), dining table decorations, the lights over the door and garage, the lights and garlands that wrap around 2 floors worth of stair bannister, and some years even those little light-up antique house things that my mother used to collect (do you know what I am talking about?) all by myself. I used to literally spend two full days decorating.

Well this year I did not go home for Thanksgiving, so I didn't get to decorate the house for the first time since I was 8. I feel so weird having not decorated the house. I do have a small dorm room, but it isn't really enough for me, you know? I have a small Christmas tree (about 2ft by 2ft) that I made from wire hangers, duct tape and garlands (college chic, no?) pictured above with some ornaments that my boyfriend and I made last year. I also want to get some lights to hang around my window.

I don't know, lately I haven't been as much into the spirit of the holidays. I feel like my 2 day decorating extravaganza is what gets me pumped and ready for December, but since I didn't get to do that this year I feel almost indifferent. Especially with the weather. I absolutely hate snow with a passion. The only redeeming quality of snow is that it means Christmas is coming. I woke up to two new inches of fresh snow this morning. Sigh. Snow is pretty and all, but it is the cold that gets me. I can't put on enough clothes to keep myself warm. (The picture is from my parent's deck last year, isn't it pretty?) I am sick of it being below 20 F (around -8 C and below) already, and this is only the beginning. Do you like snow?
